02/15/04-New Guest Kitty's! First we have Gray Lady and then Cat-Zilla! So go ahead and see them and read their story's and enjoy. They are beautiful kitty's!

This is Gray Lady who shares her love with a very dear friend of mine named Nancy. Here are her pictures and her story...

Gray Lady in Yard

Gray Lady wandered into our lives about 3 or 4 years ago. She was timid at first but never totally wild like a feral. Didn't take her long to warm up and be ready to greet me when I returned from work.

Gray Lady Has Dinner

At first I just put food and water out for her on my front walk but then the winter season came and it was evident she wasn't leaving. So I made a place for her in my shed out back with a big plastic container for her bed with several blankets in it. A bowl of food and water is kept there at all times for her as well and even a litter box so that in the cold weather she doesn't have to wander out. She quickly made that home and no longer would accept food on the front walk but would demand it be put in her "home" in the shed.

Gray Lady on Roof

Gray Lady now is loving and gentle. I can pick her up and hold her and she drools when I do that and purrs her delight! Her favorite spot in good weather (especially the warmth of spring and summer) is the top of the shed roof where she climbs up from the fence beside the shed.

She seldom wanders from the confines of the yard and at times comes to the front door to look in at my kitties.

Thank you so much Nancy for letting Gray Lady be our guest here (And thank her too purrlease) and for saving the life of a little stray kitty. (She knew who to go to!) I know she is loved very much and is well taken care of. She sure looks like a beautiful and happy kitty!

Our next guest kitty is Cat-Zilla! She shares her love with Dee who is a dear friend from The Sight Fights, the competition I run my pages in. Here are her pictures and story...

Cat-Zilla is a rescue kitty! And Dee says, my information on her is limited on what they had on her, that she is mainly a seal point siamese and 6 yrs old.

Catzilla

What i've learned since I've had her is that she is very lovable, tolerant of other animals, (even when there using her litterbox and eating her food), but that she is not above very subtle revenge when she thinks they are overdoing it!

Like when my daughter's kitter, "Snatch" wouldn't stay out of her bowl while she was trying to eat the other day, she gave her the look, (you know that look), and then sauntered off to my daughters room, proceeded to climb in her tiny little litterbox, barely managing to fit her whole body in it, then she tinkled in it....then as if nothing was out of the ordinary walked out of the room, came back into my room and gave the kitten a look of justified satisfaction.

It was one of those moments you had to see to appreciate, my kids and I were laughing our heads off while we watched her the whole time.

LOL Dee! Cat-Zilla is a very big kitty and we can just picture this all happening! We thank Dee for rescuing beautiful Cat-Zilla and for giving her a loving home. Thank Cat-Zilla for being our guest kitty too purrlease.

CAT TAILS by Tripod

Cattails are stories told by Poddy before she passed to Rainbow Bridge. Some of her fondest recollections are here! Enjoy them.

CAT TAILS I - "The Ethereal Visitor"

Here's what happened to me one dark night last year. This is a TRUE story as are all the others posted here!

Frannie was sound asleep, as was I. Lying peacefully under the night table in our bedroom I was dreaming a nice dream. The hour was 4AM. All of a sudden I heard a crash then paw steps. I jumped up, scared I was for sure. I waited and watched in the darkness to see what was in the house. Was it a racoon, a possum, a cat? I couldn't see anything. The hair on my neck was bristling as I waited in fear and anger thinking, who was this beast who dared enter my domain. And how on earth would a beast such as this have gotten into my safely locked house?

In a few moments I could smell a cat! Then see huge golden eyes peering at me from the doorway. In a flash the cat was under Frannie's bed! Oh what was I going to do?

No time to think now! I ran under the bed and started to growl. I yelled and I growled. I hissed and I meowed at the top of my wee lungs! I even flashed my teeth!

In a flash Frannie jumped up. Gee, I could hear her heart beating all the way from down here. She switched on the light. The beasty ran from under the bed and I chased her into the den. Frannie quickly followed the race into the den and picked me up. I was still growling when she put me on the bed in the bedroom and tried to calm me down.

She went quickly into the den, where I had, in all my rage, backed the beast up on the den couch. I could hear her talking to the cat and I peeked in. The light was on and I got a really good look!

A most beautiful ethereal like cat. Huge golden eyes. Soft long fur, a lovely tan and gold in color. But her face...her face I shall never forget. A very pointed face at the chin, a sort of triangular face, but yet very soft. And those huge golden eyes. The most beautiful, mesmerizing eyes I ever saw! Never will I (or Frannie) forget her. A most strange cat indeed.

Frannie talked a moment to her to calm her down and then the cat walked along the back of the couch to the window. Sat there for a moment staring at us and then put her front paws up to the window. As if she was trying to tell us to open it for her. Frannie did and she turned...looked at us...then jumped from the window (only a short jump) into the backyard and into the night.

I wondered how she got in? Well, I went upstairs to find the roof window screen had been knocked out. Apparently she gotten on the roof via the big trees we have and couldn't get down! She found the roof window open and jumped on the screen, knocking it onto the counter top. Then made her way downstairs.

The cat was not a wild cat (we have some here and we feed them and take care of them) this was not the case. The cat looked very healthy and I am sure, came from a good home. I just hope she was out for an early morning walk and returned to her home safely!

I ponder this cat a lot now. I know I guarded my house very well and Frannie was so very proud of me. But yet, I think this cat was sent to us for a reason. A mysterious, beautiful cat, ethereal and lovely. Appearing and then disappearing into the darkness.

A good omen I think now as I look back on it.

It was a mysterious night indeed....

CAT TAILS II- "The Alien Hairball"

(*I decided to tell this story after telling me Auntie Ellie about this episode in my life. It was her great idea to have me share it with you, so I tell it now. (Hey, where else could ya go to get stories about hairballs..guffaw!*) If you share your life with a kitty you'll understand this very well!-:)

At one point in me life I had big time tummy problems. These problems went on even though meowmie (my mum) tried and tried to help me. So finally, I had to go to the dreaded Vet! Arrgggh *wicked dreadful kitty look*

The vet was very nice to me, but I didn't like it there. Being that I was getting so sick, the doctor thought it was necessary to keep me there and do some tests (with those big needles arrggh!) and to xray my tum! Oh no, that meant I had to spend a couple days there. Oh, I didn't want to be away from my toys, bed and my meowie, but I had no choice. Even though I yelled and stuff, they wouldn't let me leave!

They poked and proded me and gave me some yukky tasting stuff and I had to use the litter box many times. Eeeeooowww! And so indeed they made me sleepy and I got those xrays too.

When the tests were all done and the xrays were ready they called meowmie and told her to come get me. And boy oh boy, was I happy knowing I could get outta there!

I could hear them talkin' 'bout me and my tum problems. The vet told her I didn't have any of these thingys they called tumors, but that he could see lottsa gas 'round and about me tummy. Gas I thought! Geesch, the stuff they put in cars? Why would that be in my tum! I didn't know at the time they meant that different kind of gas...like people get. Guffaw!

At any rate they sent me home and meowmie talked the whole way telling me how I had to take hairball medicine (which I love anyway) and how the vet had charged her $600.00 for all this dreadful stuff I went through. Geesch, why would they charge you to go through that!

Anyway's, I got home and I was kissing the floors with glee I was so happy to be back there once again. Meowmie was still mumblin' 'bout the $600.00. Heehee! I mean she would pay anything to make me well. I know that, but I don't think that was the point at this particular time! If ya know what I mean.

Well, I was home for about an hour and all of a sudden I could hear me tum rumblin' and gurglin'! I was makin' all sorts of weird noise's , none of which I ever heard myself make before. Some were pretty embarrassing too, if I may say so!

I went in the den to get away from anything and anybody 'cause I didn't want anyone to know I could make such noise's. All of a sudden I could feel this weird sensation coming up from me tum. "Oh my , oh my" I said to myself. "What is happening to me!" Then I opened my mouth and this thing popped out. (oh geesch, right on meowmie's treadmill too!) *stunned kitty look*.

I looked at it and lo and behold. It looked like a gigundamundo, huge, funny colored, glowing, hairball! Well, I must say, it surprised the heck outta me! But I was very happy to see it was outside not in my tum anymore.

Now at this point meowmie walks into the room! She spies me and this 'Alien Hairball' and she actually got scared! I don't think she knew what the heck that big thingy was. And she couldn't believe it came outta me! *heck , I couldn't believe it either!*

She was runnin' round making sure I was alright and going "Oh my gawd! What in the world?" Soon she came back and scooped up the 'thing' into a plastic baggie. *I thought she was gonna keep it for posterity..heehee*

A few minutes later I could hear her talking to the Vet saying "I think Poddy has just thrown up an 'Alien Hairball'! They went on and on about this 'Alien Hairball' on the phone. Geesch!

After a while meowmie calmed down and she picked me up. Laughin' she said "Only you Poddy. Only you could have a $600.00 Alien Hairball!" And ya know what? Heehee...only me! That's right and I hope I never have another one!

So all you kitty's out there, when your meowmie's and mewdad's tell you to take your hairball medicine....TAKE IT! *Big kitty burp*..."oooooh , pardon moi!"...........giggle

"Prayer"
Hear our prayer, Lord, for all animals
May they be well-fed and well-treated and happy:
Protect them from hunger and fear and suffering:
And, we pray, protect specially, dear Lord,
The little Cat who is the companion of our home,
Keep her safe as she goes abroad
And bring her back to comfort us

Anon: An old Russian prayer..Taken from Martin Leman's "Contented Cats"

Thanks to Pam who gave me that lovely book..

Cats are such agreeable friends: they ask no questions and pass no criticisms!

And here's a great little pic Pete found at EZviewer.com's Photo GalleryTalk about the cat who swallowed a canary look! Thanks Pete!!

Here's Pod with one of her favorite toy's "Shamu."

Pod and her Shamu

I will share a poem I wrote long ago for my favorite friend Poddy with you!

"CAT"

Ancient eyes stare back at me from a soft face

Green pools of liquid that are the mirrors of your soul

Paws that feel like kid gloves and fur like the finest silk from the orient

you have been revered and hated through history, but you have survived

survived to come back and give love and joy in my life

You are my friend, part of my family, my soul mate

You are more than my cat you are part of me.
